I just broke up with my girlfriend and i feel awful

My girlfriend and I just recently broke up and I want her back. We dated for three and a half years and have a child together. I want to make the changes to show her i care and am doing so to an extenet without smothering her. I just don’t know if it is wokring. Any Advice? We broke up because I took her for granted.
